Deputy Program Director, Health Security, Burnet Institute

Dr Suman Majumdar is a clinician-scientist and public health practitioner at the Burnet Institute where he is the Deputy Program Director for Health Security and co-head of the Tuberculosis Elimination & Implementation Science Group. Suman is an infectious diseases physician with skills and experience in global health delivery and research in Asia, the Pacific, Africa, Central America and Central Asia. His focus is on operational and implementation research and capacity building in Asia-Pacific and has been technical director of a program to support the response to MDR-TB in Papua New Guinea since 2014. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Suman was appointed as the executive officer to Burnet’s Know-C19 Strategic Flagship initiative and was seconded to the Australian Government to work as a Principal Medical Advisor in the Victorian COVID-19 response.
