Susan Fitzmaurice

Vice President and Head of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Sheffield

I am a linguist whose research includes the history of the English language. I am particularly interested in the concept of politeness and political language of eighteenth-century England. I have explored these topics in a MOOC on the literature of the English Country House, created with colleagues in the School of English at the University of Sheffield. I have also published extensively on eighteenth-century English letters and essays.
