Associate Professor of Urban Planning, University of Lagos

Taibat Lawanson is an associate Professor of Urban Planning at the University of Lagos, Nigeria where she leads the Pro-Poor Development research cluster, and serves as acting director of the Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development. She holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the Federal University of Technology, Akure.
Over the last eighteen years, she has taught courses and conducted research on urban informality, urban management, pro-poor development, governance and environmental justice. She has authored over 50 articles, and supervised more than 30 post-graduate dissertations. She is a 2013 World Social Science Fellow, 2016 Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio fellow, and 2017 DAAD visiting professor to the Habitat Unit, Technical University, Berlin.
