Thierry Vandevelde

Dr. Thierry Vandevelde est ingénieur spécialiste des questions liées à l’eau. Après des études de biologie et de technologies de l’information en France, il a obtenu un doctorat en biomathématiques à l’Université de Laval au Canada.

Thierry Vandevelde studied Biology and Information Technology in France and earned a Ph.D. in Biomathematics from the University of Laval in Canada. He is an engineer, specializing in water. After spending six years in North America, he joined Compagnie Générale des Eaux in 1989 as Head of Environmental Conservation.
From 1991 to 1998, he was Head of Research Programs, then Director of Technologies in the International Technical Division of Veolia Water. In 1998, within the company, he created a humanitarian action unit, Waterforce, which provides support to the major players in international outreach, in the areas of emergency humanitarian aid and development.

Since 2008, he has been Executive Officer of the Veolia Environnement Foundation, which supports community-oriented projects in favor of sustainable development, in France and abroad. On his impetus, the Foundation intensified the corporate patronage conducted since 1998 by Waterforce, now Veoliaforce.

Vandevelde is a member of the Humanitarian Action Guidance Committee set up by the French Government, and of the American Water Works Association. He is Secretary of the French Committee of the Water Solidarity Program (pS-Eau) and sits on the boards of several International outreach associations.
