Tom Joyce is a biomedical engineer specialising in the design, testing and evaluation of medical implants including artificial hips, knees, shoulders and finger joints. He works extensively with orthopaedic surgeons and industry in order to inform and improve future designs of artificial joints. As a professional engineer he takes an interest in patient experiences with medical implants, particularly when these go wrong.
