Principal Academic in Tourism Management, Bournemouth University

I am an academic with 25+ years experience in UK higher education (specialising in Tourism and Hospitality, Human Geography, and Marketing), and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I completed my PhD some 20 years ago on the decline and restructuring of British seaside resorts as holiday destinations. My current research interests include 'new' leisure and tourism spaces, places and experiences (e.g. urban beaches, virtual worlds, immersive events and urban arts trails), and facility and service design in tourism and hospitality. I have produced numerous journal articles for peer review and publication, as well as book chapters and conference papers, and reports for public and third sector organisations. I am looking to reach a wider audience for my research, hence my interest in publishing in The Conversation.
