Visiting Lecturer, Literature, Film, History and Education. Academic Skills Tutor, University of Hertfordshire

Tim's interdisciplinary research focus is on comic books and comic book film adaptations. His PhD focused on the ways in which creative and commercial imperatives shape superhero comic book film adaptations in the Marvel and DC Cinematic Universes.

Tim is an Academic Skills Tutor working across Humanities subjects at the University of Hertfordshire. He is also a Visiting Lecturer in Literature, Film, History and Education at the University. His specialist areas are masculinities, drama, comic books and film and he has published work on comic books and their uses in education as well as horror films and television. His book, Teaching Visual Literacy in the Primary Classroom (Routledge, 2011) looks at how film, comic books and television programmes can be used in teaching English. He has also contributed two chapters to Teaching Children's Literature (Routledge, 2008), a chapter to New Queer Horror (University of Wales Press 2020) and entries to The Little Black Book: Books (Cassell, 2007).
