Visiting Lecturer, Literature, University of Hertfordshire

Tim's interdisciplinary research focus is on comic books and comic book film adaptations. He is researching the ways in which superhero comic book films are shaped by economic and artistic factors and the implications these have for the changes made to the source material.

Tim is also a Visiting Lecturer in Literature in the School of Humanities. His specialist areas are masculinities, drama, comic books and film and he has published work on comic books and their uses in education. His book Teaching Visual Literacy in the Primary Classroom (Routledge, 2011) looks at how film, comic books and television programmes can be used in teaching English. He has also contributed two chapters to Teaching Children's Literature (Routledge, 2008) and entries in The Little Black Book: Books (Cassell, 2007).
