Tizoc Chavez is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Colby College. His research focuses on interactions between world leaders, with a particular interest in diplomacy of the American presidency. His research is on the origins, development, and use of leader-to-leader diplomacy by American presidents from the nation’s founding to the present, with particular focus on the 20th century. He has previously taught at Vanderbilt University and the United States Military Academy at West Point and been a DAAD Postdoctoral Fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He received his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt in 2016.
