My research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanism of disease. Insights into how nanometer-sized molecular machines carry out a myriad of tasks inside a cell is not only very interesting, but also provides us with an idea of what to do when something goes wrong with this machinery in a state of disease. In particular I have been interested in processes that lead to Parkinson's and cancer.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I also helped setting up the national COVID-19 testing facility in Milton Keynes and was a section lead.
I am a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology and a Fellow at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge.
