I have been an animal behavior researcher for over 30 years, 2016-2022 Associate Editor of the Journal of Comparative Psychology. The focus of my research is on how social groups influence the ways in which individuals communicate with one another. I am currently the director of the College Scholars Honors Program in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
