Honorary Research Fellow in Palaeobiology, University of Leicester

Tom is a currently a researcher at Silverback Films in Bristol, and Honorary Research Fellow in Palaeobiology at the University of Leicester. His research focus is the hydrodynamics of fossil and living fishes, mainly sharks and their relatives. Tom examines the fundamental physical processes affecting fish locomotion, in order to fine-tune technology and seek novel solutions that nature has been perfecting for millions of years. He works in the new field of palaeobiomimetics, which uses the wealth of biodiversity in the fossil record for biomimetic inspiration.
