Tomas specialises in understanding how lay peoples' attitudes to healthcare are influenced by their broader beliefs, assumptions and experiences. For the past five years he has examined why Australians refuse to vaccinate their children. His research also examines consumer understandings of overdiagnosis and overtreatment. Tomas' work is interdisciplinary, informed by insights from social science, social psychology, public health and philosophy.
