PhD Candidate, University of Newcastle

Tracy McEwan is a PhD student at The University of Newcastle, Australia. Her doctoral research will explore the religious identity and participation of Gen X women in Australia who currently or have previously identified as Catholic.

Tracy's research, writing and presenting interests include: Catholic ecclesiology, gender, sexuality and women’s religious experience; Church participation, generations and life stage; and multicultural church communities. Her background in mathematics, theology and sociology enables her to meaningfully apply various empirical methods of analysis to an understanding of church within an Australian context.

In 2018, Tracy was the NCLS Research Summer Scholar. Tracy has a Master of Theology from The University of Newcastle and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Mathematics) from the University of Technology Sydney.
