Associate Professor & NHMRC Post Doctoral Fellow, Menzies School of Health Research

Associate Professor Nagel is an NHMRC Post Doctoral Fellow who has thirty years of experience working in NT rural and remote mental health and substance use settings as psychiatrist and educator.

Since 2003 she has led a research program based at Menzies School of Health Research in Darwin which has explored Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives of mental health and emphasised Indigenous capacity building.

As head of the NT site of the Australian Integrated Mental health initiative (AIMhi) she conducted mixed methods and qualitative studies in service and community settings. The extended Aboriginal and Islander Mental health initiative (AIMhi) research program continues to produce culturally adapted resources for through an ongoing program of service based research and training.
