Verity Archer is a Lecturer in Sociology at Federation University. She has a PhD in History from the ANU. She writes about the history of welfare, class and poverty in Australia and has authored peer-reviewed articles for Australian and international journals in the fields of History, Politics, Cultural Studies and Sociology. She is a past winner of the Bob Gollan Award for Labour History, the University of Melbourne Williamson Fellowship and the Australian Political Science Association (APSA) PhD Award for her work on the Australian dole bludger.
