My research focuses on postcolonial literatures and cultures, particularly in South Asia and West Africa. My doctoral thesis on the representation of children during the British Raj led me to think about contemporary narratives involving children and I'm currently working on a book on 'the postcolonial child.'
I also have a developing interest in forced migration and cultural narratives around seeking asylum. Since arriving at Sheffield in 2014 I've collaborated with local arts organisations and charities on a participatory arts project, Material Stories of Migration, which works with migrants to explore and communicate their experiences in creative ways.
