Professor of Education, University of Nottingham

Volker Wedekind has published on education policy, curriculum and teachers in South Africa. His recent work has focused on vocational education, employability and TVET colleges. He has been a member of two South African ministerial committees, was a member of the HEQC National reviews Committee, the Umalusi Research Forum and the ASSAF Panel on Agricultural Education and Training. Prior to joining the University of Nottingham he spent 24 years at UKZN where he served as Head of School, Deputy Dean and Discipline coordinator in Education and Development, and just over two years at the University of Witwatersrand as Research Chair in Vocational Education and Pedagogy. He was a founding office bearer of the South African Education Research Association (SAERA) from 2013-2017 and is a member of the Journal of Education editorial committee and sits on the editorial boards of the journals Pedagogy Culture Society, Power and Education and Zeitschrift fuer Weiterbildungsforschung
