Warwick William Hastie

Senior Lecturer, University of KwaZulu-Natal

I obtained my PhD in structural geology from UKZN in 2013, and am a member of the Geological Society of South Africa (GSSA). I have received three research awards from the GSSA, including the Haughton Award (2006), Corstophine Medal (2009) and the John Handley Prize (2009). I worked in consultancy from 2013 until 2015, before taking up a contract teaching position at Mount Royal University in Canada. I currently teach rock mechanics, rock engineering and an introductory course in mining at UKZN, and am very curious about researching the myriad ways in which rocks deform and how this may impact society.
