Wendy is currently appointed as The Hospital Research Foundation Associate Professor of Breast Research. Wendy graduated with a PhD from the University of Adelaide in 2002 and conducted postdoctoral training as an NHMRC CJ Martin Fellow at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, USA, returning to Adelaide in 2005. In 2011, Wendy established the Breast Biology and Cancer Unit, which is part of the Robinson Research Institute at the University of Adelaide, and is based at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The Breast Biology and Cancer Unit investigates breast biology and how disease states of the breast occur. Wendy's research is particularly focused in the biology underpinning altered breast cancer risk associated with menstruation, breast density, and pregnancy, and in understanding the biological basis of lactation insufficiency and mastitis.
