Wengky is an early career researcher as ecological anthropologist. He completed his degrees (Ph.D. and M.A.) at Interdisciplinary Program of Environment Development and Sustainability, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. He experiences as a visiting doctoral researcher at Global Development Studies, Queen's University, Kingston, Canada. His doctoral dissertation was about developing a model of traditional ecological knowledge in the locally managed marine areas from Indonesian Sea Nomadic Communities. His research interests are climate change adaptation, development alternatives, political ecology, community-based natural resource management, and indigenous communities around Southeast Asia. Presently, he is active in various youth movements, environmental organizations in grassroots level, and multilevel forum on sea nomads.
