Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Chulalongkorn University

Wengky is a cultural ecologist with a post-positivism research paradigm. He completed his degrees (Ph.D. and M.A.) at the Interdisciplinary Program of Environment Development and Sustainability, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. He was a visiting doctoral researcher at Global Development Studies, Queen's University, Kingston, Canada, and Interdisciplinary Conservation Network 2023 fellow at Interdisciplinary Center for Conservation Science, Oxford University, United Kingdom.

His doctoral dissertation was about developing a model of traditional ecological knowledge in the locally managed marine areas of Indonesian Sea Nomadic Communities. His research interests are climate change adaptation, development alternatives, political ecology, community-based natural resource management, and indigenous communities around Southeast Asia. He is also active in various youth movements, environmental organizations at the grassroots level, and multilevel forums on sea nomads.

Currently, he is affiliated with the Department of Government, Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University, working with marine resource governance of coastal Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities in Southeast Asia countries.
