My PhD thesis was concerned with the relationship between human rights and security in the UK, Australia and the US since 2001 .

More recent work has focussed on policing and police responses to protest and political activism.

I took up my current post in the School of Justice Studies at Liverpool John Moores University in 2013. I teach on the criminology programs mainly around issues of policing and security.
