Visiting Instructor, University of West Florida

Dr. Wisdom Mensah, a Visiting Instructor, earned his Ph.D. in Educational Studies, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Ohio University; a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management of Non-Governmental Organizations from Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark; and a B.A. (Honors) in Law and Sociology from the University of Ghana.

He has four years teaching experience from the University of Professional Studies, Accra, Ghana. He is the management consultant for health training institutes in Ghana, a consultant in designing a five-year strategic and resource plan for a district of the Volta Region of Ghana, and co-consultant in evaluating a juvenile justice project for Plan Ghana, a national nonprofit. Mensah has over 20 years working experience with several NGOs in Ghana; much of his advocacy work focused on championing the emancipation of 4,000 women and children who were victims of a system of slavery called ‘Trokosi.’ He and a UWF Professor, Dr. Francis Godwyll, co-authored a book, “Female Ritual Servitude: The Trokosis in Ghana.”

He has conducted various researches in the United States and in Ghana. In 2015-16 Mensah published his research findings on the experiences of Black African professors teaching in a white university in the United States, the work-life balance of female leaders in financial institutions in Ghana, and other topics. Academic publications carrying Mensah’s work include International Journal of Scientific Research and Innovative Technology, Business Management and Consumer Studies: An International Journal, Journal of Education and Literature, and International Journal of Management Sciences.

Degrees & Institutions:
Mensah received a bachelor's degree in Law and Sociology from the University of Ghana. He went on to earn a master's degree in Public Administration and a doctorate in Educational Studies from Ohio University.
