Yoko Brigitte Wang

Yoko is a medical researcher and currently a PhD candidate in Adelaide Medical School, The University of Adelaide and South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). She is an Australia Awards Scholarship recipient supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, The Government of Australia.

Her research interests are within nutrition, diet-disease relationship, gut-brain axis, epigenetics, nutrigenomics and personalised nutrition. Her PhD is multidisciplinary, combining nutritional epidemiology and neuroscience to understand the diet-inflammation-obesity relationship at population- and mechanistic-level in the gut-brain axis.

Yoko is also a passionate artist and a science communicator. She is an illustrator, a motion-graphic designer and a photographer by experience. She has particular interests in media science and STEM education where she aspires to improve evidence-based decision making between stakeholders and science literacy for children and young adults.

She is currently the Vice Chair of Health Commission, Overseas Indonesian Students Association and a member of G20 Think 20 Taskforce in Global Health Security and COVID-19.
