Yoshio Sugimoto

Emeritus Professor of Sociology, La Trobe University

Yoshio Sugimoto is Emeritus Professor in the School of Social Sciences at La Trobe University. Born and raised in Japan, he graduated from Kyoto University and obtained his PhD in sociology at the University of Pittsburgh, USA. Since 1973, he has taught and researched at La Trobe and published many books and articles both in English and Japanese. His latest publications include An Introduction to Japanese Society (Cambridge 2010) and The Cambridge Companion to Modern Japanese Culture (Cambridge 2009).
