Yu Tao is a Senior Lecturer in Chinese Studies at the University of Western Australia (UWA), where he teaches contemporary Chinese society, politics, language, and culture.
Trained as a political sociologist, Yu’s primary academic mission is to make sense of the social foundations and mechanisms underlying politics. He is most interested in investigating and explaining the roles played by intermediate organisations in contentious politics, conflict resolution and local governance.
