I am Associate Professor of Speech and Communication at the University of Bristol and Reader in Speech and Language Therapy at Cardiff Metropolitan University. I am also an expert advisor to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and Director of Bristol Speech and Language Therapy Research Unit.
My main areas of research include speech sound disorder in children, cleft lip and palate, early language development and the use of technology in assessing language skills in children.
I run a research unit focused entirely on speech and language therapy, so have some involvement with our other areas of research (stammering, head and neck cancer, use of communication aids). Beyond that I lead a multidisciplinary study in cleft lip and palate, working with cleft surgeons, psychologists, audiologists, dentists and orthodontists.
