Zhiqi worked for 10 years as an accountant for one of the five biggest Chinese banks-the Bank of Communications. After that, she spent over nine years to complete three degrees in Dublin and the UK-BA in International Business Management (Irish American University); MSc in International Securities, Investment and Banking and PhD in Corporate Finance (Henley Business School-University of Reading).

Zhiqi had teaching experience with Lancaster University, the University of Reading and Birkbeck, University of London before joining Bath Spa University as Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance and Module Leader for the undergraduate courses in Financial Accounting and Management Accounting. Zhiqi is also a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research interests include accounting and finance education and pay out polices of UK companies. She has published on various highly ranked international journals listed on the ABS (Association of Business Schools) journal ranking 2013.
