Zhiyan Basharati

Assistant Professor of Psychology, American University in Dubai

Dr Zhiyan Basharati graduated with a PhD in forensic psychology in 2017.

Concurrent with her academic work, she has held a variety of governance roles, such as the founder and committee member of the New Zealand National Refugee Youth Council, as the founder and trustee of the Christchurch Victims Organising Committee (in response to the Christchurch mosque shootings), as the vice-chair of the Multicultural Strategy Committee of the Christchurch City Council, and as the chair and member of the Consumer Council of the Canterbury District Health Board.

She joined the American University in Dubai as Assistant Professor of Psychology in August 2022.
