I have a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, a Master's degree in Food Science oriented to Food Safety, both from the University of Guadalajara, and a PhD in the Use, Management and Preservation of Natural Resources, oriented to Biotechnology, from the Center for Biological Research of the Northwest (CIBNOR).
I have been teaching and researching at the University of Guadalajara since 2005, where I teach subjects related to microbiology, animal and human nutrition, and research.
I am a member of the National System of Researchers - Level 1; and the current coordinator of the Network on Probiotics, belonging to the Subcommittees of Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, established by FAO and the Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development.
My areas of interest are food microbiology, functional foods for human and animal consumption, and emerging technologies for food preservation. I have been responsible for several externally funded research projects in these areas, and I have multiple publications in indexed and peer-reviewed journals and scientific books. In addition, he has directed theses at undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels, and has participated as a speaker in national and international academic events.
