Soy ineffective for symptoms of menopause

Eating soy products such as soy milk and tofu does not ward off hot flushes and night sweats as women enter menopause.

A new ten-year study looking at more than 1,600 women who had not yet had hot flushes and night sweats aimed to evaluate the effect of dietary factors on preventing the onset of these symptoms.

Researchers found no consistent correlations between dietary phytoestrogens or fibre and the onset of menopausal symptoms in women who were not yet postmenopausal when they started the study.
