Synthetic skin heals itself

A synthetic material both sensitive to touch and able to heal itself quickly has been created for the first time.

Engineers and chemists combined the self-healing ability of plastic polymer with the conductivity of metal to make a flexible skin sensitive to pressure.

Researchers say the material has potential for use in prosthetics, and other commercial possibilities such as coating for electrical devices.
