Alzheimer’s symptoms reversed by new compound

Scientists have used a new molecular compound to restore appropriate behaviour in mice affected with Alzheimer’s disease.

The compound, called antisense oligonucleotide (OL-1), also reduced inflammation in the part of the brain used for learning and memory skills.

The study is the second to suggest that antisense compounds could be used to treat Alzheimer’s in humans.
