Email misuse costs companies an average of $16,000 per employee each year. Dealing with emails can overload staff as they struggle to recover from the interruptions to their day to day work, according to a study by Deakin and Loughborough Universities. Unnecessary copying of emails to people who don’t need to read them was one issue the researchers identified as adding to the cost.
