Alexander Carpenter

Professor, Department of Fine Arts, University of Alberta

I'm a historical musicologist and music critic. My main interests are Austrian--especially Viennese--music and culture, popular music, aesthetics and film music. I teach at the Augustana campus of the University of Alberta in Camrose, where I am a professor in the music program. I'm also the Chair of the Academic Advisory Board of the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies at the Edmonton campus of the University of Alberta. As a musician, I perform as a singer and guitarist with the rock band Men Who Fell to Earth.
