Dr Allen Frances is Professor Emeritus at Duke University, North Carolina, and former Chair of the task force that developed DSM-4, the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders published by the American Psychiatric Association.

He is also author of two books on psychiatric diagnosis and DSM-5: Essentials of Psychiatric Diagnosis and Saving Normal.
