Dr. M. A. Bracho is an evolutionary and molecular biologist researcher at the FISABIO-Public Health
institution, in the Genomics and Health Department.
She participates in the joint research unit “Infection and Health” with the University of Valencia and also in the CIBERESP (Centre for Networked Research on Biomedicine – Public Health and Epidemiology).
Dr. Bracho received his PhD from the University of Valencia in 2003 on experimental evolution of virus.
Later, she became a Miguel Servet researcher (2008-2014) funded by the Spanish Ministry of Health.
Her research interests are the molecular epidemiology of viruses and evolutionary virology.
Her research has involved several viruses, mainly human viruses such as human immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis A virus (HAV), hepatitis E virus (HEV), enterovirus, mumps virus, papillomavirus and human citomegalovirus (CMV).
Her research usually focus on the use of genome sequences for studying epidemiological issues such as viral transmissions or outbreaks.
