I am interested in social cognition and motivation. My primary research programme focuses on social hierarchies, in particular power and status, and how the position in these hierarchies affects the individual’s cognition, motivation and behavior. Research in my lab has focused on two main areas: 1) attention and goal pursuit and 2) reliance on experiential information, such as experiences that arise while thinking (e.g., ease of retrieval), affective (e.g., mood) and bodily experiences (e.g., hunger, motor fluency), and the implications of these experiences for a variety of judgments and actions. Currently I am also interested in the development of social hierarchies in children, and on altruism.
