Andrea Del Bono obtained his PhD from the Institute for Culture and Society (Western Sydney University) in 2016, with a thesis entitled: 'Chinese and Italian Place Brands in Contemporary Sydney: Assembling Ethnicity and/in the City'. Between 2005 and 2010, he studied Mandarin Chinese - Modern and Contemporary Chinese Culture at the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Università Ca' Foscari (Venice, Italy) and at National Chung Hsing University (Taichung, Taiwan).

Following his enrolment as a PhD candidate, Andrea's original interest in Chinese diasporic studies has been applied to the relations between ethnicity and the city. His dissertation aimed to dynamise the relations between cultural difference and place-making, with a specific focus on contemporary urban Australia. His main interests include Cultural Research and Methods in Cultural Studies, Urban Studies, Cultural Geography and Chinese Language(s).
