Andrea Merchak

My research focuses on the interplay between the gut microbiota and the immune system in neurological disorders from neurodegenerative disorders to mood disorders. I am primarily focused on how T cells are primed by the microbiota and other exogenous factors via the aryl hydrocarbon receptor with hopes of garnering a better understanding of how certain individuals may be more susceptible to these disorders.
