Andrew Mullen is a PhD student in the Jaffe Lab for Underwater Imaging. His work focuses on the development novel microscopic imaging systems to observe marine organisms in their natural ocean environments.

Originally from Santa Cruz, California, Andrew received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Andrew has earned an M.S. in oceanography and is currently working towards a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering which he expects to finish in 2017. His career interests lie in combining science and engineering to develop novel field instruments for studying challenging natural environments.
