Andy is an Associate Professor in Mental Health and Addiction (Massey University, New Zealand) where he co-directs the Mental Health and Addiction Practitioner Training Porgramme. His teaching and research focuses on lifespan drug use and addiction, with a special understanding of the patterns of alcohol use and health outcomes in older adults. With colleagues at the Centre for Addiction Research (University of Auckland) he currently leads a collaboration of experts in older adults drinking from US, Europe and the World Health Organisation in a three-year study funded by the New Zealand Health Promotion Agency which explores patterns, predictors and outcomes of drinking in older adults.
