Anne Stringfellow is a senior research fellow at the University of Southampton. She joined the university’s Waste Management research group in 1999 and has been involved in research projects ranging from contaminant transport in landfills and waste treatment technologies through to solid waste infrastructure modelling within the MISTRAL system-of-systems project. Another area of research is the impact of sea level rise and coastal erosion on landfills located in coastal zones.
She is currently a member of the coordination node for UKCRIC, the UK Collaboratorium for Research on Infrastructure and Cities (www.ukcric.com). Anne is also working on DART, the Dutch Accelerated Remediation Trial in the Netherlands, which aims to reduce the aftercare period of closed landfills from hundreds to tens of years.
