Research Fellow, Australian Rivers Institute, Griffith University

Dr Anusuya Willis (BSc Hons (Melbourne Uni), PhD (Melbourne Uni and Paris Sud XI)) is a molecular biologist specialising in cyanobacteria. Situated as a research fellow in the Australian Rivers Institute, Dr Willis works within Professor Michele Burford’s group. She is interested in understanding the interaction between genes and the environment and how this translates into the cell physiology. Since coming to Griffith University, Anusuya has explored the biology of the cyanobacteria in the South East Queensland reservoirs and gained a greater understanding of the environmental drivers that stimulate cyanobacteria blooms and toxin yields.
