Ashley Van Niekerk

Ashley van Niekerk is a Professor at the University of South Africa’s Institute for Social and Health Sciences. He has a PhD in Social Medicine from the Karolinska Institute. His research portfolio is embedded within critical socio-psychological and public health understandings of the multi-layered nature of injury, its causation and prevention. He has long-standing interests in unintentional injury and child safety, especially burns, with recent work also including road traffic and drowning injury prevention.
