Ayona Datta is Reader in Human Geography. Her research and writing broadly focuses on the gendered processes of citizenship and belonging and the politics of urbanization across the global north and south. She uses interdisciplinary approaches from sociology, anthropology, feminist and critical geography combining qualitative and visual research methods to pursue her research interests.

Ayona's research interests include postcolonial urbanism and smart cities in the global south, translocal identities and urban citizenships and ecological citizenships and the right to the city.
