Ayu Diasti Rahmawati is a lecturer in international relations at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), Universitas Gadjah Mada. She holds a Master degree in international affairs from the New School University, USA, with a thesis on reconciliation as renegotiation of memory and the 1965 violence in Indonesia. She is academically interested in issues related to critical theories of International Relations, collective memory and reconciliation after mass atrocities, nonviolence and social movements, as well as inclusive citizenship and democracy, with a regional focus on Latin America and Southeast Asia. She is currently involved in research projects on nonviolence and democratic consolidation in Indonesia, sites of violence and everyday suffering of marginalized communities, films and post-violence social imaginaries, arts and reconciliation after mass atrocities, as well as social inclusion and citizenship in Indonesia.
