Ben Rankin is a post-graduate researcher at the Swinburne Institute for Social Research. His research focuses on the formation, development and amendment of water legislation in the state of Victoria.

His wider research interests include the history of colonial/state governance in Victoria, state constitutions and constitutionalism, and federal-state intergovernmental relations in Australia.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Monash University and is a former fellow of the Victorian Parliamentary Library Research Fellowship.
