I came to the School of Welsh in September 2011 as an undergraduate on the BA Welsh Course. During that time, I gained an interest in Translation Technology through the 'Language Technology in a Digital Society' module at the school. After graduating with a first class honours degree in Welsh, I then went to work as a Trainee Translator, having previously held a role at Coleg Gwent through the GO Wales scheme where I also gained some experience in translation and preparing Welsh medium learning materials. I returned to the School of Welsh in 2014 to undertake a PhD research project in Translation Technology.

My research interests lie in the relationship between language technology and professional translation, the role translation plays in language planning and the benefits of translation technology to the Welsh translation community.

My PhD project is based on the role language technology can play in professional translation, by concentrating on the effect its use has cognitive effort in translation, translator productivity and final quality.
