Benjamin Bergen

Benjamin Bergen is a Professor of Cognitive Science at UC San Diego. He studies language and cognition in the laboratory and in the wild. He’s also the author of two books. "Louder than Words" (2012) is an introduction to the cutting edge cognitive and brain science of how we extract meaning from the language around us. More recently, "What the F" (2016) is an examination of how and why we swear, and what profanity reveals about our minds, our brains, and ourselves.
