Professor of Strategic Studies, Marine Corps University; Scholar-in-Residence, American University, American University School of International Service

Dr. Benjamin M. Jensen’s teaching and research explore the changing character of political violence and strategy. He holds a dual appointment as a Professor of Strategic Studies at the Marine Corps University, School of Advanced Warfighting and as a Scholar-in-Residence at American University, School of International Service. He is the author of three books including Forging the Sword: Doctrinal Change in the U.S. Army (Stanford University Press, 2016), Cyber Strategy: The Changing Character of Cyber Power and Coercion (Oxford University Press 2018) and Military Strategy in the 21st Century: People, Connectivity, and Competition (Cambria, 2018). He is a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council and served as the Senior Research Director and Lead Writer for the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission. He has received research support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, Office of Naval Research, Hewlett Foundation, Charles Koch Foundation, Smith Richardson Foundation and U.S. Department of Defense Minerva Initiative. Outside of academia he is an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve.
